I was referred to Dr Daniel Armstrong with a ongoing problem. I had a subungual Haematoma on my little nail which I had previous surgery on . He decided to have more invasive surgery to make sure this wouldn't re-occur. He has a very kind manner and made me feel completely at ease . He talked me through the operation and it was to great success . Couldn't fault him or his team very efficient . It healed beautifully and was given an open appointment hopefully which i won't need to use . Would highly recommend him .

He was easy to talk to, I could ask him anything throughout my care. Pre and post op care was excellent. I've had fantastic results from his care and I'm no longer in pain.

Dr. Armstrong explained, in simple terms, everything he was going to do to correct my finger. He appreciated the need for the operation as i work with my hands, as a designer/artist.

Dan Armstrong has been a fantastic doctor. He listened and attended to my problem straight away with surgery. Before surgery he made me laugh and feel relaxed and after surgery I didn't need a single pain killers as had no discomfort. He is very professional and caring and wish all doctors were like him. Surgery was 100% successful and I feel like I have a new arm and can return to my work with ease. Thank you Mr Armstrong.

I had an accident in July 2015 resulting in breaking both the bones in my lower right arm, one of which was an open fracture. I received surgery at my local hospital on the same day (not Royal Derby hospital) but one of the fractures never healed properly. This resulted in my referral to Mr Armstrong. The diagnostic skills and surgical expertise of Mr Armstrong was truly impressive. He understood the problem and explained very clearly a plan of action to repair the fracture. I had further surgery in December 2016 at the Royal Derby hospital as a day case and could tell immediately that the core strength of my wrist felt right, even while I was in a plaster cast. I have regained 90% use of my wrist and am delighted with the outcome. So to summarise I would certainly recommend Mr Armstrong for his medical expertise, clarity in explaining the problems and solutions, and his friendliness and humour.

Profile

I am a Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby. My practice is entirely Hand and Wrist problems and I have a large proportion of tertiary referral work for complex issues. I also have an interest in minimally invasive surgery - endoscopic carpal and cubital tunnel release, Xiapex/Collagenase, Needle Aponeurotomy etc.

I underwent orthopaedic training in the Trent Region, gaining the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) exam. I have undertaken specialist training in Derby, Nottingham and Oxford where I was the National Hand Fellow. I have been examined in, and passed, the British Post Graduate hand Diploma.
